24 Day Seven: 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
That’s some bad hat, Harry.
Yay! Viewer discretion is advised! That means lots of violence.
Janice is Chloe without sense of humor, spunk, or resourcefulness. And Miles or Mayes or Moss or whatever he’s called agrees with me. Moss says another attack is imminent, and the only option is to find Jack & Tony. He tells everyone that Renee was abducted by Jack & Co, and the Feds are the only chance she’s got.
Sean plays the recording where the bad guys say that Renee is expendable. Sean tells Moss that Renee “was” a good agent, and he gets all yelly and says they don’t know that she’s dead yet.
Bill and Chloe show up looking for Renee. They find her and uncover her body. She isn’t breathing, so they pump her with adrenaline. She wakes up. Bill tells her they’re working with Jack, and he told them where to find her.
Off topic, I adore Colbie Caillat.
On topic, Jack’s in the van with Emerson. He asks how Emerson got Tony out of CTU. He says Christopher Anderson helped him. Jack’s like, that guy tried to kill Tony. Oh yeah! That’s Robocop. Emerson says that Robocop never tried to kill Tony. He purposefully missed the artery. They got Tony out, and by the time they got to Robocop, Jack had killed him, and Tony decided to stick with Emerson. Tony was angry. The rules had changed, no such thing as honor, only brotherhood, blah blah.
Emerson goes up front. Jack asks Tony if he’s ready, if he’s sure he’s ready. Yep.
They’re in a hangar, and Emerson tells Jack to go get the Motobos. Jack heads to the back of the van, Emerson pulls a gun and grabs Jack from behind. Tony shoots one of the henchmen, and it’s a standoff between Tony and Emerson. Jack’s yelling, “Take the shot, Tony!” because Tony isn’t under enough pressure without Jack yelling at him. Emerson says Tony can’t steal his diamonds, and Tony’s like, “I don’t want your stupid diamonds! Diamonds are for girls! I don’t want you to kill innocents!” Tony shoots Emerson in the shoulder, and Jack is able to recover and come up with a gun. Tony shoots Emerson again in the neck. Hey, Tony’s been shot in the neck before (Day 3).
Renee is awake and talking to Bill and Chloe. They explain why the whole undercover op thing. She wants to contact her boss, and Bill says she can’t contact the FBI, because she’ll jeopardize the whole operation. Chloe tells her to quit squirming like a girl. Bill says Renee has to stay dead until the operation is over. Jack calls, and Bill says they have to get Motobo to agree to help them.
Jack goes to Motobo and says he needs his help to stop Dubaku.
Meanwhile, at Dubaku HQ, there is much mystery and not much exposition. But Dubaku would like to keep his diamonds, and Tony is a liability. Dubaku says Taylor will only respond if she knows they have Motobo. Also, let’s go ahead and target Washington DC in an attack. What? Not L.A.? I didn’t think terrorists were capable of targeting any place outside of L.A.!
1:18 p.m.
They’ve detected another firewall breach, so Dubaku is probably initiating another attack. Prez wants to talk to the first responders across the country, and COS wants to negotiate with terrorists, because he’s a pansy.
Tony tries to explain to Emerson why he turned against him, and Emerson says he doesn’t forgive Tony. Jack is trying to convince Motobo, and the wifey tells Motobo that Jack has no reason to lie. Motobo says he’ll help Jack. Jack says they have to turn Motobo and Mrs. Motobo over to Dubaku, but they’ll follow them, of course. Mrs. Motobo wants to do it, wants to allow herself to be used as leverage, because she’s ashamed of opening the safe room. She convinces Motobo to work with Jack.
Emerson’s all dead, and Tony’s all sad and remorseful over it.
Dubaku’s people are messing with another airplane.
COS says “they” can’t locate the firewall breach. Some guy in her office gets a cell call. It’s a forward of a scrambled call from Dubaku, who demands to speak with the Prez. Dubaku chides her for not taking his terrorism seriously. She’s like, we’ve talked about it. He tells her to go to the window and look to the southwest to see what she has done. They watch, and an airplane has been blown up in the sky. She calls him an SOB, and he threatens to kill 10K more Americans if she doesn’t give in to his demands. Come on, Prez! Be a man! Don’t kow-tow!
She asks COS if the cabinet is still assembled. They are. She looks pissed. I’m hoping she asks for a declaration of war. Slaughter everyone involved.
1:31 p.m.
SecState says they have to withdraw. The cabinet peeps argue that they have to back down if they don’t have Motobo. She says that while they have a chance to get Motobo, she won’t give in. SecState throws a fit about terrorism and how we should let it hold us hostage or else the people will call for her impeachment. She tells him to resign if he can’t stand the heat. Sit down or leave, yo. He leaves. She gives a speech. Let’s not fail, tough times, et cetera. She leaves the room and gets a little teary eyed.
1:40 p.m.
Jack meets up with Renee. He asks if she’s okay, and she says, well you shot me and buried me alive. Best day ever! Chloe asks Motobo to have a seat. She’s wearing latex gloves. She implants a transmitter on one of his teeth. “Are you with the FBI?” “No. I’m a stay-at-home mom.” Renee is a little dizzy, and Jack thinks she should sit down. She’s fine, because she’s Jack-in-a-skirt. She’s having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that someone in the FBI is corrupted. She wonders if the four of them can really stop what’s happening. He says they have to.
The COS and that other guy talk and decide that they need the First Fella to help them. Only problem with that? He’s all paralyzed and being set up for something or other.
Samantha (the girlfriend of the dead son) is walking into her apartment building. She walks in, see’s FF, keeps asking him what is wrong. Ryan stabs her several times from behind and then again from the front. She’s dead. COS calls Ryan and asks for FF. Ryan says that FF is meeting with Samantha in her apartment, and he insisted on going alone. COS is mad, and Ryan’s like, so sorry for leaving him alone, yo.
Ryan puts the knife in FF’s hand, wraps his fingers around it. When Ryan walks off with the knife, FF notices that he can move his fingers. Dun dun dunnnnnn.
1:52 p.m.
Bill calls Tony, who’s in the hangar, and Tony says COPY THAT. Dubaku’s people come in and ask Tony where Emerson is. Tony says that Emerson, Litvak, and Bauer are all dead. Tony says he didn’t want to split the money. Do you want Motobo or not? Give me diamonds. Tony goes to look at the pretty shinies, and then Tony tells the guys that Motobo is in the truck. They tell him that if he’s clean, they’ll call him again. Then a guy behind Tony pulls a gun to shoot Tony, and Jack takes him out with a sniper rifle. Shots are fired, and Tony has the diamonds, and the people take Motobo with Tony’s blessing.
Chloe is tracking the terrorists with Motobo.
Ryan moves FF to a chair, different from the couch he was previously in. This time they’re in the loft part of the apartment. He’s stringing up a rope with which to hang the FF, to make the whole thing look like a murder-suicide. FF is flexing his hands. He tells Ryan not to do this. Ryan picks him up to put him in the noose, and the FFstarts choking him. They both fall and hit a table, and the FF keeps his firm grip on the guy’s neck. He totally kills the badpinkytoe secret service agent. Didn’t see that coming.
Oh, it was two airplanes colliding. 270 people dead.
Dubaku thinks the Prez isn’t just stubborn–she’s insane. OR, here’s another theory, she’s not a pansy.
They’re going to attack a city in Ohio now. Dumbstoopidhead terrorists.
Next week: Jack goes postal on Dubaku.

That’s right Mr. Third World Leader, in America every Harriet Nelson and June Cleaver is a butt-kicking terrorist chaser.
So now Renee gets to join up with the Jack and the rest of the Scooby Gang do some off-the-books, no-holds-barred, talk-or-die terrorist take-downs. Sweet.

I don’t think Emerson is dead. They spent too much time developing the Almeda-Emerson relationship.
Oh, and the plane collision scenario can’t happen the way they showed it. It’s called “NEodd” and “SWeven.” North and East bound flights fly at odd numbered altitudes, e.g. 37,000 feet. South and West bound flights fly at even numbered altitudes, e.g. 36,000 feet. Pilots would be suspicious if you violated that rule.

At one point in this episode I was distracted. Here is the conversation that ensued:
Jess: Wait a second, what’s going on?
Paul: Oh, I don’t know. Somebody’s trying to attack America I think.
Jess: Oh. Well, that’s nothing new.
Also, the 4 of them (Bill, Tony, Chloe, and Jack) have done plenty of stopping of evil terrorist threats all on their own, thankyouverymuch Renee. Even when CTU WAS “intact.”

The Lady Pres. confuses me. She won’t negotiate with terrorists. *yay!* But she doesn’t recognize Dubaku’s attack as an act of war over American soil and instead of telling her cabinet to draft a declaration of war, she encourages them to “hang tough?” *boo!* Motobo is clearly not in control of his government, so isn’t the onus on the Lady Pres. to restore order (i.e. invade and occupy his country if need be, if only to prevent further attacks?) Why doesn’t the Pres. tell Dubaku that for every city he attacks, ten of his cities will be carpet bombed in retaliation? THAT would be ballsy. (Well, if she had some, it would be.)
I think I would have resigned from her cabinet too, just for different reasons.
What is really high on my wish-list for this season is that the SOC and the Recently Resigned NOT be implicated in the conspiracy to keep Dubaku in power. That would just be TOO predictable! *yawn* Can’t we have at least some LOYAL opposition in the White House? Come on, 24 writers, you can do better than that! *crosses fingers* *hopes for change*
