24 Day Seven: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Previously on 24.

Tony is being transferred to FBI HQ. The prez is learning that Tony is working with Jumo’s regime. He has demands, but I can’t understand what they are. Blah blah Sengala blah blah demands blah blah something. The prez is all kinds of ticked off about the ultimatums. The one dude tells her that they now think they can reengineer the firewall code in six days. She responds, “Six days?! We don’t have the luxury of six hours! Well, we have at most twenty-two hours, but definitely not six days!”

Eee! Just got an email from James Marsters’s (Spike) people. He’s working on an episode of Numb3rs this week. I hope he kicks that hippy Charlie’s and his hippy dad’s butt. We were about to take that one off the DVR, because it has been teh suck for a few seasons (and were it not for Colby and David, it wouldn’t have lasted this long for us)… but I’ll stick around for a James Marsters ep, yo.

Jack and Renee are taking Tony in, and Renee’s bf Moss is ticked off. Renee tells him that they have a mole. He agrees to limit access to Tony’s case to level four clearance and above. To quote Dr. Brennan, I don’t know what that means. Moss wants to be kept in the loop. Jack asks Renee if she trusts Moss. “Yes. I have the sex with him.”

Janice hooks Tony up to some monitors (awkwardly), and Renee tells her she needs help plugging the security leak. She leaves, and Jack mopes at Tony from behind glass. The jerk guy gripes about the level four lockdown.

Moss tells Renee that Tony’s working for Jumo and that he wants to blackmail the White House. Jack broods over the Jumo connection and tells Moss he can get him the CIP device if he can talk to Tony. “I know him, I know how he thinks. At this precise moment, he is wondering how his soul-patch looks. Trust me.” Moss lets him in to interrogate Tony. This will be explosive and awesome.

Jack’s like, “You died in my arms. How are you still alive?” Tony’s like, “What, do you want me to sing ‘A Little Fall of Rain’ for you?” Jack tries to persuade him with reason, but Tony claims that money is his only motivation now, and the government killed Michelle. Jack says, no, Charles Logan killed Michelle. Tony says, “He’s a product of his environment! The government poisons everything in its path! Do you know how much of the money I’m making from my illegal activities is going to go to bail out Fannie and Freddie and GM?” I can’t disagree with him. “Look what the government did to you.” The government is rotten to Jack. Again, Tony is correct. “Your daughter won’t have anything to do with you, Teri’s dead, Audrey…” Jack responds, “I know. I owe the government a huge debt for getting Kim and Audrey out of my life.” “You’re spitting on Teri’s grave!” “How about I spit in your stupid FACE!!” Jack chokes Tony until Tony says something. “Deep Sky.” “What??” “Deep Sky. I repeat. I’m in a Flank Two position!” Jack drops Tony and is escorted out of the room because of all the choking. Yeah, Frank and I are sure that Tony’s deep undercover.

Jack mutters, “Deep Sky,” and dials a number. A whiskered face picks up a number. Jack says that Tony gave him an old CTU emergency code, so he called this number. And the whiskers belong to Bill, who says he needs ten minutes to get things set up. Jack’s like, I don’t have ten minutes! And Bill hangs up. CHLOE! Chloe is there with Bill. “If Tony’s been arrested, then it’s over.” “Jack can help us get him out of custody.” “I don’t think Jack is in a helpful mood.” Oh, come on. Jack will totally spring Tony.

Chief of Staff and First Fella are arguing over the subplot. Chief of Staff informs FF that the dead son Roger was about to be investigated by the FCC. Chief says that someone buried the evidence as a favor for the prez, and the prez knew about the case. Speaking of secret service, where is Aaron? I miss him.

The prez says they’re being told to withdraw troops from Sengala by 1 p.m. She doesn’t like her impossible choices. Chief recommends withdrawal to save American lives. Prez wants to explore every possible option and wants the feds to keep working on Tony.

Chloe has a secure line for the call with Jack. Bill tells Jack that Tony is working deep undercover. Members of the prez’s inner counsel are in on the bad guy plot, and they need Tony near the CIP device at all times. Jack’s like, “But you risked hundreds if not thousands of Amerian lives!” Um, hypocritical much? I seem to remember this prison break scheme… I mean, they were murderers and stuff, but most of them were American, I’d bet. Bill insists they need Tony back undercover and tells Jack Chloe’s already in their system. “Hi, Jack. It’s good to hear your voice. I saw the hearings on C-SPAN. I can’t believe what that senator said to you. You looked good, though.” Hahaha. Chloe’s going to help Jack get Tony out of the building.

10:30 a.m.
Jerk guy is way too obvious as a mole. But he’s getting his access denied… Hrm.

First Fella tells Roger’s girlfriend that he was wrong to confront her. She tells him that no, Roger didn’t commit suicide, he was murdered. She asks FF to meet her. She’s a fickle one.

Moss tries to interrogate the hardened Tony. Shows him pictures of the massacred people in Sengala. “Do you really want this on your conscience?” He looks at the camera and says his conscience is clear. He tells Moss that he needs to have the prez stand down, or the next photos will be of dead Americans.

Renee tells Moss that Tony won’t break. She thinks they need to… coerce Tony. He tells her she’s being crazy and illegal and she needs to get Jack out of the building. Renee throws down her earpiece and says, “Oh, you are SO not getting any later.” Janice tells Renee she’s found that someone at the FBI did hack in. She’s going to the server room to pull the server ID. I think she’s the mole. But she finds that Sean (Jerk guy) was the one that hacked into the FAA. But he was so over-obvious! He says that his wife was on a flight out of Vegas, and he hacked in so he could monitor her flight. He shows her that his wife was on the flight, and she tells him she thought he was the security leak. He’s like, “There’s a security leak?”

Renee pulls Jack in to debrief him, and he strangles her until she passes out. He takes her gun and keycard and puts the bluetooth receiver in his ear. Now all he needs to do is steal her purse, and he’s ready to spring Tony in a big Jack Attack.

Chloe has Jack on the phone. Bill will arrive for him in ten minutes. She’s monitoring the cameras for him. He goes in with his weapon pointed at Moss and another random security guard. Jack gets there guns and tells them to uncuff Tony. COPY THAT! I think that’s our first one. Immediately followed by a second copy that. Tony apologizes for saying all those mean things, and Jack is just glad he didn’t break Tony’s neck. “You came really close. It really hurt. I’m probably going to have a mark. And it kind of hurt my feelings.”

Sean finds Chloe in the security subnet. Janice says she’s going to lock them out. Chloe finds an emergency stairwell for Jack, and after Jack copies that, Chloe loses her feed. Janice sees the agents down in the interrogation room and sends security to investigate. This isn’t good for Jack and Tony, who are close to being found. Chloe gets testy. “Someone is locking me out of the system. It’s really starting to piss me off.” And you do NOT want to piss Chloe off. Especially if she has a gun.

10:54 a.m.
Chloe is still trying to work around Janice’s blocks, and Jack and Tony get into the stairwell. Renee and Moss are lamenting Jack’s poor behavior. Security has found Jack and Tony in the stairwell. Jack copies that Chloe is back up. Janice says that her nemesis is very good. Jack busts out a window in the stairwell and gets out onto the roof of the parking lot. Chloe tells them where to find Bill. Jack lays down evasive fire so Tony can get out of the parking garage and over to Bill. Jack gets into a car and hotwires it. He keeps his head in the floorboard, puts the car in drive, floors it, notes that what he’s about to do will hurt, drives the car through an outside barrier and down to the ground. He limps out of the car, and he and Tony jump in the van with Bill.

11:00 a.m.
Previously on 24. (See above.)

The feds are trying to find Jack and Tony. Renee notes that someone is running interference for them. Renee tells Moss that Tony must have offered Jack something to avoid his impending prison sentence. She vows to never go hungry again find Jack Bauer. They’ve gotten a print on the sniper and are following that lead. Moss has to call and tell the prez and Chief Ethan that Jack and Tony have escaped together. Meanwhile, Renee has determined that Jack was the only mole, and she has stopped looking for the FBI mole.

Chief wants the prez to cave to Debaku’s (sp?) demands, and she doesn’t want to send a weak message the first time she’s tested.

At “CTU,” Chloe is glad Jack is with them. Jack says he’s not with anyone until they start ’splaining. Starting with Tony, who isn’t dead. Where’s Chloe’s baby? Or was that a ruse? Tony says he was dead for almost ten minutes, or so he was told. Um… ten minutes? Other than the fact that Tony shaved off his nice hair, I see no evidence of massive brain damage. So he was told wrong, for sure. Emerson is the one who told him that. His people had injected Tony with a hyperbaric compound. Tony was angry and hated the government, and he ran Emerson’s crew for more than three years, did bad stuff. The CIP device was what made Tony turn against Emerson’s crew. He knew what the CIP device meant, and he knew Debacle (that’s what we’re going to call him) had peeps inside the government. Tony wasn’t sure how far that went, so he went to Bill. Tony says Debacle is they key, and if they are going to uncover the conspiracy, they have to get to Debacle before he leaves the country.

Logistics, Emerson will know that Tony was in federal custody, and they’ll think Tony made a deal with the US Attorney to get out. Jack realizes he can help, asks who else is in on the operation. It’s just the three of them (Chloe is the muscle). Jack says he’ll work with them, but only because they’re the only ones he can trust, and if they give him a reason not to trust them, he’s SO gonna find new BFFs and turn them all in.

Tony tells Emerson that Jack broke him out, and he only put him in custody to begin with because he had no choice. He says Jack’s on board now because of the criminal charges that the feds are going to file against him, and Tony had told Jack that Emerson could get Jack out of the country. He convinces Emerson to let him bring Jack in. Emmy says ok, and his henchman looks surprised.

FF tells his SS agent that he wants to go somewhere and wants to go without a manifest. Ryan is not happy about it and requires an explanation. He finally convinces Ryan to get a car, and I notice that Ryan looks a lot like Mark Blucas. I’m bored of the subplot already.

Sean’s wife calls him from her airplane. The pilot says they’re in a holding pattern. The passengers know about the near-miss and the problem with the FAA. He assures her it’s an isolated incident. He says for her to call him as soon as she lands. They love each other.

Tanner (the sniper) is conscious and has called a lawyer. Renee is taking Janice with her to the hospital so she can get to him before his lawyers do, and Janice can send the info to their team.

Tony says Emerson is about money and personal loyalty. Emerson treated Tony like a brother when Tony thought he had no one else. Tony says that won’t be a problem, and he’ll do what has to be done. They get to Emerson’s, and Emmy’s henchman doesn’t look pleased. Emmy instructs his peeps to take Jack downstairs while he talks to Tony. Emmy says Jack isn’t worth the risk. Emmy says he considered using Jack but will go a different direction. Tony says he owes Jack. Emmy says it’s business. Tony says, “So what? You’re gonna kill him?” SarahK says, “No. You are.” Emmy says, “No. You are.” I could write this! Bill tells Chloe that if Tony kills Jack, he solidifies his cred. Chloe is steaming, because Bill knew that this might happen. So did Jack, says Bill. Meanwhile, Jack decides he’s about to be killed, so he performs a Jack Attack and has a gun to the head henchman’s head by the time Tony and Emmy arrive in the basement. Jack yells, Emmy backs down, and Jack lets the henchman go. Henchman is like, “Kill him, or I’m out of here.” I’m like, “Um, you should put on your red shirt before you throw down ultimatums. Duh.” Emmy kills henchman and tells Jack he can keep the gun he procured. GET JACK A PURSE. HE’S EARNED IT.

My big toe hurts. Just so you know.

11:30 a.m.
Sean calls the FAA and says he’s Moss. Gives him Moss’s access code and says that his wife’s plane has to land, as a matter of national security. He says it’s by order of the White House. I don’t see where this subplot is going, but at least it’s not as tedious as the First Fella subplot.

The prez talks to Sengala’s prime minister and tells him her dilemma. There’s a new development, refugees about to be killed by Jumo’s people. Chief Ethan didn’t bother to tell her about it. She’s mad about that.

Emmy tells Jack that there are no hard feelings. Emmy asks Jack what he was looking for when he was all nomadic for a year. Jack says it doesn’t matter, he didn’t find it. Jack says that he came back and turned himself in because America is his home. Jack says he wanted to come clean, set the record straight, that he believes everything he’s done was right. Tony tells Jack to watch himself around Emmy and to not underestimate Emmy.

Emmy says they’re go on their next job. They’re picking up a package and delivering it to the state department. The package is a person, the Sengala former prime minister, Mutobo (or whatever). Chloe is upset that they’re going to torture and kill Mutobo, who singlehandedly led the fight against genocide in his country. Bill says that’s true, but they have to get to the bottom of the government conspiracy. Chloe reluctantly agrees.

First Fella and Ryan arrive to meet with Roger’s fiancee across from the Lincoln Monumentuhm, Jefferson Memorial. Ryan takes a position on the bridge so she won’t know he’s there (at FF’s request). I think he’s going to be killed. The girl (whom I don’t trust) says that the people who provided false documents to the SEC re: insider trading killed Roger and threatened to kill her if she said anything. He was auditing brokers in his firm. She looks like MKH, but not quite as pretty. Roger was looking for kickbacks and found connections to Sengala. He uncovered accounts traced to a senior member in the prez’s administration. Roger was about to present the prez with the evidence. She gives him a flash drive and tells him to just leave her out of it. She leaves. Ryan is watching through his binoculars, and he looks suspicious.

Renee gets to the hospital and goes to question the sniper. She wants to know where Tony is and threatens him with prison but offers him a reduced-sentence carrot. She wants to know if Tony takes his orders from Debacle. Renee gets all agitated and starts to manhandle. The lawyers have arrived downstairs, and she tells Janice to stall them. Janice argues, because he requested legal counsel. Renee notes all the lives at stake. Janice finally agrees to stall the lawyers. Renee barricades herself in Tanner’s room. She sticks his gun right into one of his gunshot wounds. She’s kind of a badpinkytoe, but she’s shaken by the fact. She breaks off from him, but when he laughs at her, she goes for his breathing tube and tells him to lose his last breath wisely. He tells her to go to hell, and she apparently does not think that he used his last breath wisely, because she cuts off his breathing. Her name is Renee Walker. I wonder if she’s related to Walker, Texas Ranger.

11:55 a.m.
Janice is still trying to stall, and the nurses find that Tanner is coding, and there’s a breathing malfunction. The nurses try to get in the door but can’t, and Renee strolls out, telling the lawyers he’s all theirs. They want to talk to her, but she keeps walking. Janice asks what happened, and Renee says she doesn’t want to know and should get a ride back somewhere. Renee tells Moss that the former prime minister may be in danger. Moss calls the PM’s peeps and tells them to lock him down. They start shepherding him to safety, and Emerson’s crew bust in. Jack finds Mutobo but can’t get to him before he’s locked in a safe room. Jack starts trying to bust through the wall of the safe room with a golf club. Mutobo tries to call out of the room, but the safe phone is dead. Jack says that the room is reinforced with concrete. The PM’s guard tells Emerson that the door won’t open from the outside. Emerson is mad and knocks that guy out. Tony tells Jack that if they can’t get to the prime minister, they’ll lose their shot at getting Debacle. Ruh-roh.

Next week on 24: Tony and Jack take Renee hostage. The prez decides to attack in Sengala. Ryan (maybe) wears surgical gloves and may be killing the FF shortly. That would make me more interested in the subplot.

Tomorrow night: Idol.

10 Snarkbacks to “24 Day Seven: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

  1. DamnCat says:

    The course of true love…

I still think Jack and Renee will end up together. So he strangled her a little. So he’ll take her hostage next week. No guy is perfect. There’s probably some little things she does that annoy him too. They are made for each other and she just might be the one who is tough enough to survive a relationship with Jack. (Nina doesn’t count.)

  2. JohnK, no relation says:

Hey, at least with this season, we know where each subplot is going– after Jon Voight, evil Swiss banker…. Anyway, we can hope that Janice is evil (hmmm, evil Garafolo, redundant).

And, warning, Elisha Cuthbert will return for the last six hours or so of this season (imdb.com). We can only hope that this time, someone will put into the mouth of Kim Bauer “After the first few dozen times I get shot at, I decided to take after dad and got some weapons training. I hunt cougars.”

Then again, I’ve been hoping they’d be able to write Kim Bauer properly for her last three appearances. Whoever thought that making her a wuss after she singlehandedly escaped from Viktor Drazen should be given a Jack Attack.

Good to see the reviews up and snarking. Snark long and prosper.

  3. Krodd says:

Gee, sorry to see the “read more” button is broken!

  4. SarahK says:

I knew if I hid anything behind the read more button, you wouldn’t read the extended entry! So I did it for you.

  5. Krodd says:

The kevin has ADHD, and cant concentrate that long

  6. SarahK says:

You’re able to concentrate for incomprehensibly long periods of time, as long as you’re making fun of me.

BTW, you need to get on facebook.

  7. Paul says:

“First Fella and Ryan arrive to meet with Roger’s fiancee across from the Lincoln Monument.”

That is actually the Jefferson Memorial that we saw. Just sayin’.

  8. SarahK says:

Paul, I so KNEW I was getting it wrong. I was like, something about that does NOT scream Lincoln.

  9. Paul says:

No worries, it happens. In fact the only reason I really noticed is because I was just there in October.
