That was just cruel
The whole Jin flashing back / Sun flashing forward thing. Cruel, cruel, cruel. I knew something was up when Jin’s cell phone looked like an old old cell phone. But then hey, Sun’s having a baby, and Jin really needs that panda! And then when the guy said it was the Year of the Dragon, I was like, what are they doing in China, yo? And Frank looked it up and the Year of the Dragon would be 2000 or 2012, so I was sure it was 2000. But how was Sun having a baby back then? Oh, flash back + flash forward = cruelty.
And so cruel that Jin supposedly doesn’t make it off the island. I say supposedly, because she was holding that baby up very pointedly in front of Jin’s tombstone. As if to say, “Heeeeyyyy, Jin watching through a hidden camera from the island! Look at your new baby! I really really miss you and want to come back to the island with the baaaaaby!” Nobody dies in J.J. Abrams shows, even if you see them die. Vaughn got shot about a hundred times in the chest, and he just drank some of the Master of the Universe’s special juice and took a vacation in Bhutan. Charlie could still show up again.
And I guess I had my weeks mixed up. Someone dies next week. I hope it’s the witchy redhead.
As to the funeral to which only Jack shows up in the future… I think that’s Ben or Walt. We know Ben gets off the island secretly, and maybe Juliet sticks an ice pick through his eye. Walt is a disturbing, possibly evil kid, and he probably caused the plane to crash. That’s a freaky kid, y’all.
I forgot to tell y’all that I was already sure that Penny’s dad owns the boat. I know he bought the journal kept by the first mate of the Black Rock. I didn’t notice, but my boss pointed out to me, that the Hanzo family was selling the journal at that auction. !!! I think Whitmore (after the auction) bought the Hanzo Foundation and took over the Dharma Initiative. I also think he staged the plane crash wreckage.
LOST is so good this season!
Discuss. Do it now.

My prediction is that possibly we actually see Jin die next week and this week was just a foreshadowing of that. Unless my eyes were deceiving me, his tombstone said 1974-2004 on the right hand side and didn’t Desmond call Penny on Christmas (or Christmas Eve, I can’t remember exactly) 2004? If nothing else, I think he’ll die pretty soon; within a week of LOST time anyway.
Of course, Sun could have possibly just told them [her rescuers] that Jin died in the crash when she was rescued in which case they would list his year of death as 2004 even if he actually died later…

Scratch that…I just went over to Lostpedia.com and they said that the full date of death on the tombstone was September 22, 2004 which was the date of the plane crash.
Okay, so now I have no theories about who’s gonna die. Meh.

Well, I still think it’s Michael in the coffin in the flash-forward for the simple reasons, that:
A) the funeral showing is in Watts
B) only Jack shows up, and is only slightly surprised, which to me means whoever is in that coffin as not popular with the other survivors
But then again, they could be another major twist there.

I took note last nitght on TV how well the Red Wings spanked the Stars.
Just throwing that out there…

michael being in the coffin would be interesting. it would be awesome if mr. eko appears out of nowhere to smite him for his treachery.
also, i think the show is going to start focusing on desmond, as opposed to him getting killed off. i hope you’re right about that red head getting killed - kate should’ve shot her last episode.
i don’t care for them using both flashbacks and flashforwards - too confusing.

I likes me some LOST.
I think Jin is still on the Island, alive.
I also think there are clues to whther the flash is forward or back based on the sound cueing.

“I also think there are clues to whther the flash is forward or back based on the sound cueing.”
According to Lostpedia.com:
In general, each episode’s flashbacks follow these norms:
The flashback begins with a “whoosh” noise while the character appears in thought.
The flashback usually takes place prior to the plane crash.
Each episode usually features only one character’s flashbacks. Exceptions include “Pilot, Part 2″, “Special”, “Exodus, Part 1″ & “Exodus, Part 2″, “…And Found”, “S.O.S.”, “Dave”, “The Glass Ballerina”, “Exposé”, “Greatest Hits” and “Confirmed Dead”.
The flashbacks have some thematic or narrative parallels with the events on the Island.
Flash forwards:
A flashforward (or prolepsis, also sometimes known as flash-forward or flash-ahead) in a narrative occurs when the primary sequence of events in a story is interrupted by the interjection of a scene representing an event expected, projected, or imagined to occur at a later time. The flashforward technique is used less frequently than its reverse, the flashback.

All I know is that I love watching a show that leaves me confused, pissed off and looking forward to the next one, even though I dread it each time. The double episodes each week get on my nerves, especially the old explaining everything to us because they were so confusingly written by people who think we can never figure out things on our own. Is JJ a democrat? Or do I sound like it is me that is confused, not the show. heh.

Your snarks and comments on the show are more interesting than the show itself. I’ve already given up on these people. Heck, I stopped caring about whether they live or die. Your comments are now the most interesting thing about the show.
