Heroes S2E5
Mohindar says it’s fight or flight when we face our worst nightmares. He tells Parkman that there’s no hospital that can deal with Molly. Parkman says he should never have asked Molly to find his pop for him, and Mohindar agrees. He tells him that he has to go find his father to find out what he’s done to Molly. Weissy Parkman says that maybe Mrs. Petrelli can tell him more about his pop before he goes to confront him.
Monica tells the cops she can’t ID the gangbanger who broke into the Steak & Shake or Fuddruckers or whatever it is. She is obviously afraid to ID him and bring danger upon herself and her family. She tells her coworker that she learned how to whoop up on people by watching it on TV.
Peter and Sheila O’Irish kiss and such, and she wants him to remember his past. He doesn’t want to dig too deep because he can’t control that side so well. Sheila says he should look in the box of his stuff now that she’s kissed him. And she says people might be looking for him.
Some blonde chick (Kristen Bell) is looking for Peter at the shipping container place. One of the guys who initially found Peter tells her where Peter’s staying. She tells the man that Peter’s dangerous and that she works for a company that’s looking for him. She walks off, and when she’s by herself, we learn she can shoot electricity out of her fingers. She’s Electro Woman! (Y’all remember Electro Woman and Dinah Girl, right? Actually, all I remember about them is the way that one line in the theme song went. Electro Woman and Dinah Girl!)
Chapter Five. “Fight or Flight.”
Nathan and Parkman are discussing Mrs. Petrelli. Nathan’s mad that Parkman interviewed Mrs. P without anyone else presence, and Parkman says mom didn’t tell him anything. Parkman says he’s going to Philly to see nightmare man, and Nathan wants to join him. Parkman tells him what’s going on with his dad, and Nathan says he’ll come anyway, even though his pop is dangerous. Nathan says he can take care of himself, and Parkman says Nathan can get them there faster with his flying. Nathan says he’s not a cargo jet.
Irish O’Irish brings a man into the bar who tells Peter that this little blonde was looking for him. Irish says that since Peter’s with Sheila now, he has to go to Sheila’s place and stay there and let Irish take care of things. I think Irish has a superpower. Peter says he can handle himself, and Irish says, oh yes. I’ve seen it, and you’re great, but he’s not scared of a little blonde. He also tells Peter not to tell Sheila about it. Well, Irish, Sheila will find out about it anyway when you turn up dead by electrocution.
Monica tells Camille (her coworker) that the whole kicking butt thing was something she learned on TV. She tells Camille something’s been happening to her lately, and she doesn’t know what’s up. She’s like, my body does stuff before my brain can catch up. Camille tells her everything will be ok.
Parkman and Nathan show up at Nightmare Man’s apartment. Nathan keeps telling him to get out his gun, and Parkman is a little anxious about the whole thing. They bust in and find Parkman’s pop. He’s freaked out and armed with a shotgun. He knows Parkman is his son. Nathan wants to know why his mom is protecting the Nightmare Man. Parkman disarms his dad and asks why he’s in Molly’s dreams and what he knows about Nakamura’s murder. Nightmare says he doesn’t know what Parkman is talking about. “What are you, a cop?” “Not right now, I’m not. So you’d better start talkin’.” Why didn’t they let Weiss do all this cool hero stuff in ALIAS? They totally wasted Greg Grunberg. Anyway, Nathan takes over the shotgun, and Nightmare says he’s armed because he received the photo of himself with Kensei’s symbol over it. “They’re gonna kill me too.” I’ve told y’all I think that Mrs. Petrelli’s hubby is the one killing everyone, or at least involved, right? Also, why would Nightmare Man be invading Molly’s dreams if he’s not the bad guy? Of course, there can be more than one bad guy.
Parkman wants to know why Nightmare attacked Molly, what he did to her. He wants Molly to wake up from her nap, and he’s all sweaty and ticked off at papa. He tells him to undo it. Nightmare says he’s protecting himself. Nathan wants to know from who. Whom, Nathan, from whom. Nightmare recognizes Nathan as one of Mrs. P’s kids. Parkman is collar-grabbing now, because he really just wants to punch dad in the face. Nightmare taunts him a little about still being angry about the whole abandonment thing. Nathan tells Parkman to read Nightmare’s mind so they can get out of there. Nightmare’s like, “You can read minds? Go ahead.” Parkman tries, and he and Nightmare clash, brainiacally speaking. They both have pain from the event, and Nightmare says he can read minds too.
At Monica’s, Micah is playing the piano, and Nana is so pleased. Monica’s mom apparently played. Monica comes in and tells Micah that God doesn’t give us anything we can’t handle. Suddenly, Monica is playing the piano along with Micah, and she doesn’t know it. Micah asks if she plays, and she says no and then freaks when she sees that her hands are playing the piano.
Mohindar calls HRG, who is with the Haitian, and Mohindar wants to take Molly to the Company so they can help her. HRG says to take her to the hospital and that as soon as the Company has what Mohindar loves, they’ll have Mohindar. He’s right! He’s right! Don’t take her to the Company, stupidface! HRG’s quote: “The moment you trust them with what you love most, they’ll have you.” He speaking from experience? Mohindar says he’s on Molly’s side.
Parkman says Nightmare must explain everything. Nightmare is trying to explain stuff, such as why he was a deadbeat father and all that. Nightmare’s proud, and Parkman says he doesn’t get to be proud, he just gets to tell them his story. Nightmare says that a few of “them” started to do whatever they wanted when they found out they had powers, and that he’s been doing what he can to stop “them.” And that what they can do is so much bigger than what Parkman knows. Everything starts with reading minds and becomes so much more. Nightmare wants to take Parkman into another room to show him something. I smell trouble! Parkman follows him into another room, and suddenly, everything goes dark. Parkman is in jail, being roughed up by a security guard speaking some other language. Nathan busts through the door (without the shotgun), and he’s on the famous rooftop, looking over the city, which is on fire and in ruins. Nathan says, “But we stopped the attack.” Parkman tells the guard he’s not supposed to be in jail. I’m sure that always works. So Nightmare Man has trapped Nathan and Parkman in nightmares. He comes out of the room, tells them to have sweet dreams, and leaves the apartment with a horribly evil smirk on his face. Truth takes time, Sydney. The moral of the episode: Never trust your dad.
Ando takes the scrolls from Hiro to an expert, who says they are authentic. Ando needs help to read the damaged scrolls. The expert puts fingernail polish on the scrolls to make them shiny and pretty (or to make them more legible). Hiro is now talking through the scrolls. He’s telling Ando that he can’t believe how awesome he is now, getting to participate in the events for which Kensei is legendary. Each trial brought them closer to rescuing the swordmaker.
Back in 1671, Kensei has brought a map to Yaeko, and she is so happy. Kensei takes her hand, and Hiro talks about the blossoming love. Hiro looks so mop.
Monica has made a whole slew of tomato flowers. Micah tells Monica he thinks he knows what happened with the piano. She says she’s gonna sleep it off with a nice long nap. That’s so cool, I didn’t know you could sleep off mutations. Micah shows Monica that he can control electronics. He says he thinks superpowers run in the family. He tells her that D.L. could walk though walls and that his mom has powers too. He shows her a comic of St. Joan, a copycat. He says she mimics muscle actions. He thinks that he and Copycat should go test out her new awesome power. I’m not calling this girl St. Joan. I knew you could learn stuff from TV. I should be exponentially smarter than all-a y’all by now.
Mohindar has brought Molly to Midas. Idiot. Midas sends Mohindar into the field. With a tazer. To kidnap someone? He says Molly will be perfectly safe. Mmmhmm. Midas tells Mohindar that some people can’t handle their abilities, and it’s easier to ask forgiveness from them (for tazing them, bro) than permission (to taze them, bro). Niki busts in, throws Mohindar out of the way, and lifts Midas up in a chokehold. Mohindar tazers Niki and asks Midas what is going on. Wait, didn’t Midas hire Niki to do something? Maybe it’s Jessica?
Micah takes Monica out to watch the kids in action. She decides she wants to double dutch jump rope. She is teh awesome at the double dutch. I never tried that. It always looked scary, like it would trip me and make me fall on my face. I did that enough anyway.
Sheila O’Irish and Peter are at Sheila’s place. She has a painting. One of Isaac’s? Or her own? She says she painted them. Peter’s happy to see Sheila’s place and wants to lie in a real bed. That’s a little forward, Pete. Peter says he needs to open Pandora’s Box and let it all hang out. He tells Sheila that opening the box won’t change anything. He opens it and finds his passport. He’s Peter Petrelli from New York! Didn’t see that coming. And he has an open ticket from New York to Montreal. Sheila has a blank canvas, and Peter’s eyes go all Isaacky, and he starts painting. Sheila watches in horror, and Peter looks evil.
Electro Woman is in Irish O’Irish’s pub. She tells Irish she’s looking for Peter Petrelli. Irish says he’s never seen Peter before. She says either Irish is lying, or all the people from the docks are lying about Peter. Irish says he doesn’t know Peter and says he’s sorry he couldn’t be more help. She locks them in, melts the lock, and shoots lightning from her fingers. I think Irish O’Irish might have had his last Irish coffee.
Niki is there for her curing. From multiple personality disorder. I had assumed she had the virus. Mohindar tries to break Niki out, but she doesn’t want out, because she says these are the only people that can help her.
Nathan is in his rooftop dream, looking like he came straight out of Edward Scissorhands. Someone on the rooftop calls him, and he thinks it’s Peter. It’s that burned up Nathan reflection. Parkman is in the jail, and there is a crying baby on the floor. Janice, the ex-wife shows up. She’s holding the baby. Parkman asks if the baby is his and tells Janice that she said the baby wasn’t his. She says, “But you read minds. You looked into my head and saw the truth, but you still left.” Is this just the Nightmare Man talking, or did he ditch his baby? I understand ditching the adulterous wife, but the baby is a different story. Parkman says he didn’t know, and she says he left the baby, just like his father left him, and just like he’ll leave Molly. She leaves the cell, and the guard comes in. Parkman and the guard start fighting. On the rooftop, Nathan starts fighting with nuclear Nathan. They’re fighting with different people in their respective dreams, and suddenly, Parkman is on the roof, being held down and choked by Nathan. Parkman is telling him to wake up.
Nathan and Parkman wake up and realize that Parkman has stopped the Nightmare Man. They try to figure out where Nightmare Man went. Parkman is incensed and starts searching the apartment. They find Midas’s picture with the Kensei symbol over it, and Nathan says he knows Nightmare is heading to see Bob. Bad idea, nightmare. You’d better be able to protect yourself against the JuggerNiki.
Ando and the scroll. Hiro and co. are on their way to battle White Beard and rescue the swordmaker. They see that it’s not one man. It’s an entire army they’ll have to fight. A big one. Three people fighting them. Hiro’s scroll ends with, “I fear…” and then cuts off. The restorer needs more time with the scroll to find out if Hiro survives.
Monica is watching TV. She finds Bruce Lee on the telly and starts mimicking martial arts. Micah walks in and tells her she’s amazing. Monica wonders what it all means. Micah says maybe they’re supposed to do stuff with their special powers. Thankfully, her petulant little brother hasn’t been in this episode. Since he makes me want to punch him and anyone in my immediate vicinity in the face, I’m glad of that. Mohindar shows up and tells Monica he can help her discover what’s going on with her. Don’t taze her, Mo!
Electro Woman is on the phone with someone and says yeah, she killed Irish O’Irish, what’s the big deal. Apparently, the person on the other end of the line wants her to come home. She says it’s her assignment, and she almost has it. She says fine, she’ll come home now, and it won’t happen again, “Daddy.” Ok. So her father is… any guesses? My guesses are Nathan Petrelli (makes sense because she and Claire could easily be sisters or half-sisters, but then again it doesn’t make sense because Nathan is in this funk thinking Peter’s dead). Ok, most likely not Nathan. Also could be HRG. In light of his quote about not giving the Company what you love the most or they’ll have you, that makes sense. It’s possible they reconnected recently. Could be Midas. Could be Nightmare Man, which would make her Parkman’s sister. Could be Mr. Petrelli, the Petrelli patriarch. Or she could be Niki’s sister. I think it’s Mr. Petrelli, who is supposed to be dead.
Peter stops painting, and he and Sheila look at the painting. It’s of maybe a church, street signs in French, and two people standing there. Peter has no idea how he did that or even *that* he did it. Sheila says it could be the two of them in Montreal like on Peter’s plane ticket. Sheila gets a call that her brother is dead. Peter is there with her and says it’s his fault, because they were looking for him. She hits him, then hugs him, and she cries in his arms. He says it’s his fault because they were looking for him. He starts saying he can’t hide anymore.
I thought this episode was so good! Better than previous weeks, and now things are really getting exciting!

I love this show. And an excellent review too.

I’m just glad we didn’t have to endure that whiny oil-eyed girl and her brother. (Do you think they are incestuous?)
In the coming scenes Sylar is telling someone, “As soon as I get my powers back I’m going to kill you.” Duh. Isn’t that what he does?

It was kind of an awesome episode

I was just happy that we got a respite from Clueless Claire and Captain Creepy.

“Don’t taze her, Mo!”
That was awesome, just like this episode! I think Mohindar might be pulling an Anakin, it seems like he’s slowly slipping over to the darkside. How about this crazy theory out of left field: Peter and Sylar are twin (not identical obviously) brothers since they both have the same ability. Pa Patrelli and Ma Patrelli split up due to having different end goals. Pa Patrelli is the one killing off the picture people, Sylar is his evil padwan, and Peter and Sylar will face off in the season finale, shortly after finding out that they’re brothers!!

Do you still have this on DVR? Go back to the part where Peter opens his pandora’s box and see if you notice anything odd on his ID.
October 25th, 2007 at 5:24 pm
T.Paine: Sylar and Peter DO NOT have the same ability. Peter absorbs powers by proximity. Slyar needs to examine the brain to know how the powers work.

Point taken Kiser (soze?), I just thought that they were close enough in similarity to make a crazy-[eights] theory. Guess not. Another theory I had is what if Hiro and Kensei have a falling out over the girl they’re both (presumably) in love with. One or the other of them (but probably Sark) could become the evil leader of whatever this shadowy group of bad guys is. Since Sarkensei can heal himself, it might be possible for him to live much much longer than others of the 4400.

I think you are right about Hiro and Sark but I keep hoping Sark gets his head cut off so Hiro gets the girl. However, your Evil Sarkensie is an interesting idea.

THERE IS NO WISHING SARK DEAD! HE NEEDS TO BE ON THIS SHOW FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER!
October 26th, 2007 at 1:00 pm
Excuse me. I don’t complain about you wanting to kill off Jaime Summer’s kid sister, the only believable character in the show. I don’t put down your obvious affinity for sophomoric humor in Scrubs and The Office (bad sophmoric humor at that). And I won’t tell either Amazon nor the IRS about your thievery . So at I should be allowed to to dislike that wuss. He was a wuss in Alias and he isn’t any better in Heroes.
October 26th, 2007 at 5:19 pm
Ha ha ha! SarahK is a criminal! Speaking for myself at least, I don’t want Sarkensei dead, I just want his evilness to shine. I liked him as a bad guy in Alias, and hope that he becomes a baddy on Heroes as well.
